Days Logistics is celebrating 92 years of business in the transport industry in 2020, and have been involved in the transportation of bulk fuel and oil in the petroleum industry for over 50 years.
The transport company was founded by Mr Edward (Ted) Day in 1928, with a T Model Ford carting wheat, wool and fertilizer on and off the rail in the Riverina township of Oaklands, and the business continued to flourish and played an instrumental part in the construction of the Tocumwal aerodrome during WWII, carting gravel and cement.
The awarding of a contract to cart fuel for BP in the mid 1960s into Southern New South Wales and the ACT with a single road tanker, resulted in the family name becoming synonymous with road transport in the Riverina (and may well be the oldest surviving transport company in the Riverina) and has been recognised at the National Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs. Ted was inducted to the Hall of Fame, in 2000 and his sons Pat and Wally were inducted in 2005. Since this time the company has undergone many changes, including Pat’s two sons, Peter and Gavin progressing to management roles in 1990s.
